Lee Marvin earned an Oscar for his dual portrayal of Kid Shelleen/Tim Strawn in the 1965 comedy Western "Cat Ballou." After 14 years in film, he finally became a certified star.
Marvin's widow Pamela auctioned off his movie memorabilia in late August 2010, 23 years after his death from a heart attack.
The "Cat Ballou" items included the Hollywood Foreign Press Association "Golden Globe " Award as "Best Actor In A Comedy or "Musical." The beautiful 9" high statue consists of a golden globe, partially wrapped by a film strip, sitting on a block covered with a gold colored, inscribed presentation plaque.
The very prestigious award item sold for $3,450.
Other "Ballou" items included the XV Int'l Berlin Film Festival Award For Best Actor ($2,587) and the British Academy Award For Best Foreign Actor ($1,437).
Finally the the revised, final draft of the shooting script for "Ballou" went for $1, 610.

I am the last person cited in Jim Hughes' definitive biography of Gene, as I wrote about attending his final...
