Description
Steiger on Bogie- "In those days, if you had been working with one of the famous leading ladies, and some of the men, her close-ups would have been over your shoulder and [the audience] would have been lucky if they saw your face. But Bogart always stood alongside the camera and made sure I had my close-up to match his close-ups in the scene. He had what i think we lack today, a sense of honor and professionalism."
{NOTE: Steiger was particularly touchy about this aspect of filmmaking. In the famous taxi cab scene with Marlon Brando in "On The Waterfront" Steiger often had to act to an absent Marlon who was gone for a session with his psychiatrist.}
