Artist's Description

Fred Huck and R.H. Clarke opened their auto company on 17th Street and 6th Avenue in Tucson in c. 1910.

A 1914 Cadillac is awaiting servicing with a Hupmobile and a Packard in the garages.

Like Cadillacs Packards were top of the line luxury vehicles.

Hupmobiles were first built in 1909, the year of Ted DeGrazia's birth. The Hupp Motor Company was located in Detroit, Michigan. Production ceased in 1939 the year of my birth.

Packards, in turn, were built from 1899 to 1958. Their massive plant built on over 40 acres still stands, decaying away.

I am the last person cited in Jim Hughes' definitive biography of Gene, as I wrote about attending his final...
