Description
Here is Tucson, Arizona's Spanish language Cine Plaza as seen on a 1950 postcard. Television had not come to Tucson, so attendance was not yet hurting.
When Tucson became part of the US in the Gadsden Purchase of 1854, there were no Anglo residents as the territory was formerly part of Mexico.
In 1950 Tucson had no TV stations. The RCA store on the right of the frame didn't sell sets until KOLD and then KVOA went on the air in 1953.
It took several years but television ultimately spelled doom for neighborhood picture shows.
