Description
Yaqui deer dancer captured in a Jackie Sharkey photo, Gallery in the Sun, Tucson, Arizona, 1969.
Ted Degrazia was especially close to the Yaqui Native Americans who helped him build his Gallery.
A fountain, capped by a deer dancer statue, rests inside the Gallery's inner court yard.
Ted's 1962 oil "Yeibecha" features 12 dancing Yaquis.
"Papagos, Apaches, Yaquis. They are God's gift to painters, They are colorful, they have dignity, pride and respect. We work together, drink together and become friends. We stay together, we have many laughs. And now we are growing old together." Ted DeGrazia
