Description
Pioneer stunt man Yakima Canutt (1895-1986) worked with Duke from 1932 to Howard Hawks' "Rio Bravo" (1959).
Yak's most daring stunt on a Wayne picture was retrieving the dangling reins from the out of control horse's hooves in "Stagecoach."

Yakima is best remembered today for his staging of the chariot race in William Wyler's "Ben-Hur" (1959). He also doubled for Charlton Heston.

Like Duke 'Yak' got into films with the help of Tom Mix. He last worked at 80 as stunt coordinator for "Breakheart Pass" (1975), having been awarded a special Oscar in 1966.
