Description
The former Shakespearean actor was nearly 50 when he entered films in 1914. He had a long time fascination with the Old West and depicted an un-glamorized, even drab, look in his productions.
But by 1920 this austerity was already losing its appeal to the showy Tom Mix. He and Mix were pallbearers at Wyatt Earp's 1929 funeral.
"Hell's Hinges," one of his more stark Westerns, was selected in 1994 to the National Film Registry, Library of Congress.
Here is the complete film with only marginal quality.
