Rio Grande Oil sponsored a crime drama radio show "Calling All Cars" from 1933-1939. One of their most popular episodes dated from February 1934, "The Mae West Jewelry Robbery." It was so popular it was aired again.
The show was based on an actual robbery of her $3,000 in bills and jewelry. A master at media manipulation Mae garnered much free publicity with the incident especially at the high profile trial of the masked bandit. An actress impersonated Ms. West on the show.

I first became obsessed with photography and motion pictures while growing up in post WW2 Manila in the Philippine Islands in the late 1940's/early 1950's. Film noirs were a particular influence.
