Artist's Description

A Pinocchio puppet hangs in Aberdeen, South Dakota 1965. The 1940 Walt Disney animated film is my favorite of all his films. Strangely it did not earn back its production costs in the initial release; probably because of the dark days of WW2.

"Uncle" Walt was noted for being tight with the buck. A strike for higher wages soon after hit his studio. The family atmosphere of the place never returned.

Maureen O'Hara in her autobiography has strong words about Disney, calling him a liar and a cheat.

I am the last person cited in Jim Hughes' definitive biography of Gene, as I wrote about attending his final...
