Italian born Tina Modotti (1896-1942) was a protege of Edward Weston in Mexico and traveled in the highest artistic circles which included painters Rivera, Kahlo and Orozco, and photographer Manuel Alvarez Bravo.
This image from the border town of Naco, Sonora, reveals the often absurdist aspect of a geographical area dividing one of the world's richest countries and one of its poorest.
