Description
Orson Welles considered "Chimes at Midnight" (1965) to be his finest film, saying that if he were at the pearly gates of heaven it would be the one he would "offer up."
The text includes lines from five of Shakespeare's plays. In 1939 Welles had done a stage adaptation featuring four of "The Bard's" plays.
This is a home made trailer for the film. Welles plays Falstaff and Sir John Gielgud is Henry the 4th.

Orson Welles completed two other pictures based on Shakespeare's plays, "Macbeth" and "Othello."
"Macbeth" was shot in 23 days at Republic on standing Western sets while "Othello" took years to complete and was shot in Europe and Morocco.
In 1980 an uncut version, retaining the dialogue spoken with a Scottish accent, was restored at UCLA. John L. Russell is the same director of photography, Hitchcock used for "Psycho."

"Othello" is the only completed Welles' film owned by his estate.
