Description
Duke strikes a meditative pose, in a studio portrait, as the "Ringo Kid" in his career making "Stagecoach."
I choose to remember him from this period in an unparalleled film career.
"My hope and prayer is that everyone know and love our country for what she
really is and what she stands for. May we nurture her strengths and
strengthen her weaknesses so that she will always be a "Land of The Free,
and Home of the Brave." ... John Wayne
Navajos wordlessly sub for Apaches. And how about the patently phony rear screen projection!

I would say that somewhere, at anytime on the planet, a John Wayne film is being viewed on an iPad, laptop, desktop computer, TV and even a movie theater.
It is a good bet that his films will be looked at for centuries.
In keeping with the illusion that is at the heart of movie making, it is only fitting that Marion Michael Morrison never bothered to legally change his name to John Wayne, a moniker he didn't like.
