Description
Cooper had earned his the year earlier for "Sergeant York,' written by John Marcellus Huston. Huston has been nominated for an Academy Award 10 times.
The eccentric Huston at one time kept a pet monkey. "His wife of the time, Evelyn Keyes, became fed up with the noise and the mess and told Huston that either she or the monkey would have to leave. 'Honey,' replied Huston, 'it's you!'"
Humphrey Bogart had nicknamed Huston, "Double Ugly" and "The Monster."
.John Huston's film career spanned 1929 to 1987. One of his more interesting film roles is as aging movie director Jake Hannaford in Orson Welles' "The Other Side of the Wind.' The film is still yet to be completed. Hopes were high that the project would be finished in 2015, Welles' centenary. I was one of those who donated monies in an indiegogo online fund raising campaign. $406, 405 was ultimately raised, but still no movie which began filming in the early 1970's.
