Description
The first and only time the two close friends appeared in a movie together. Tracy acted for Ford again in "The Last Hurrah" (1958).
Ford had wanted Orson Welles for the part but Welles' agent turned down the part of Mayor Frank Skeffington without even telling Orson of the offer. When later learning of the offer, the furious Welles fired his agent.
Despite wanting to act together again the egos of Tracy and Bogart over billing got in the way, The same thing happened with Steve McQueen and Paul Newman in "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid." McQueen walked and Robert Redford was cast.
