Description
David Dortort was one of the writers on the RKO released film "The Lusty Men." Dortort returned to Tucson the following decade to produce the TV series "The High Chaparral."
"Men" was lensed, in gritty black and white, by the great cinematographer Lee Garmes (1898-1978), who began his film career in 1918.
In addition to the Tucson exteriors, rodeo sequences were also shot in California, Oregon and Washington.
This Indian cowboy is watching a Labor Day rodeo on the White Mountain Apache Reservation in White River, Arizona, 1968.
