Artist's Description

This movie is among the never filmed projects that dogged the Russian director, Sergei Eisenstein (1898-1948) when he came to America in 1930 under a short term contract to Paramount. "Gold" is based on a work by Jack London.

In 1848 gold was discovered at Sutter's Mill in California. The American West was never the same as the lust for the gold metal caused a stampede of wealth seekers.

This image is a 180 degree panoramic shot.

I am the last person cited in Jim Hughes' definitive biography of Gene, as I wrote about attending his final...
