Description
A matador deflects a charging bull in the US-Mexico border town of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico in 1978.
Ted Degrazia made a water color "Matador Taunts the Bull," in 1952, followed by three paintings in oil, "Left Handed Natural" (1966), "Banderillero" and "Picing," both in 1966 also.
Ted's 1967 book "ah ha Toro" "captures the riveting drama of the clash of man and beast and reveals DeGrazia's empathy for the customs and flavor of Mexico," according to Buck Saunders who wrote about Ted the man and his art for the lavishly executed "The World of De Grazia: An Artist of the American Southwest," 1981.
It was published in 1981 the year before Ted's death.
One of the six permanent galleries in DeGrazia's Mission in the Sun is "Bullfight."
