Description
Suddenly, with no advance warning, Barry Sadler gave me the classic third finger gesture. I swung my German made Leica up quickly and captured the shot. The Rangefinder made only a slight click when shot so Barry was not aware that I was able to snap the photograph. I am guessing that he had grown weary of my directing him for numerous poses.
By this time he was so feed up with me he left his Nazi cap in the house.
"About the time I was 16, I started to play the drums a little and then the guitar. I tried to make a go of it with the combo, but we broke up early; when I was 17, I knew I'd wind up in jail the way I was going. All I knew how to do was fight, so I enlisted in the Air Force and they took me" - Barry Sadler as to to writer Robert Powers.
