Description
The only pro-war song to come out of Vietnam sold 12 million records worldwide, a million copies in Japan alone and went into nine versions in Germany; and even earned a 23 cents royalty from Romania.
Barry Sadler's best selling 1966 song "Ballad of the Green Berets" was used as the theme song for John Wayne's "The Green Berets" (1968).
Sadler had an extensive collection of machine guns and original Nazi memorabilia.
He was impressed by the German war machine of WW2. His hat is one worn by troops in Rommel's Africa Korps. The camouflage jacket dates from the Viet Nam war where he served as a medic in the Green Berets.

Sadler (1940-1989) launched "Casca The Mercenary" series in 1979. He was shot in the head in Guatemala City in 1988 and died 14 months later, a withered vegetable of a man.
