Description
Ann-Margret is not the grieving widow she appears to be in this 1973 Burt Kennedy written and directed Western shot in Durango, Mexico. When she coyly flirts with Duke, this is his response:
"I've got a saddler older than you."...John Wayne as Lane
This is the last of 17 collaborations cinematographer William Clothier (1903-1993) had with Duke, who is also named Lane in "Hondo." This is Clothier's final film; retiring at 70, but living another 20 years. He entered films in 1923 as a camera assistant. Clothier was renowned for his aerial photography. He first worked with Duke and John Ford on "Ft. Apache" (1948). He was the most gracious to me, director of photography I met on any set.
